"We are grateful for The Apogee Foundation’s recognition and support of our education and training programs. These are an essential part of ABT’s mission and play an important role in the future of the Company and of the profession. This grant enables us to augment our existing programs and to further the vision which both organizations share of assisting dancers with outstanding potential to achieve world class excellence."

Window on the Apogee World

The library of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy is shown in this 2006 photo completely refurbished with Apogee provided furnishings

The Bolshoi Ballet Academy, its faculty and students have been the largest single beneficiary of support from the Foundation during the past decade. The furnishings and equipment provided by the Foundation in the 1990's, alone, valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Examples of aid provided by the Foundation to the Academy include the refurbishment of the entire school premises with mahogany furniture imported from Scandinavia in 1999, the donation of large transport vehicles and medical equipment in 2001, and the provision of 24/7 security for the Academy’s extensive premises for several years. Since 1997, the Foundation also has provided more than 50 scholarships to the Academy's most gifted students and more than 10 awards to its leading faculty members.

Note: the structure of Apogee's award and grant programs was formalized in 2005. Because some awards and grants had different titles and/or were accounted for in periods other than academic years or performance seasons in prior years, and because some of the awards listed above were provided by other persons and entities before the time of Apogee's existence and were later grandfathered into Apogee Awards programs in order to assist those beneficiaries further, all entries prior to 2005 have been designated according to their approximate correllary under Apogee's current programs.
