Arseniy Chubachin
Apogee Merit Scholar and Rising Star Award Laureate

Based on his performances at the Crescendo Festival in St. Petersburg, Arseniy Chubachin was named an Apogee Merit Scholar for the 2006/2007 academic year. Subsequently, based on his outstanding series of performances at Apogee's first international music festival in Odessa, he also was selected to receive the Foundation's Rising Star Award. In 2008, Chubachin also was elected to serve on the Laureate Committee of The Apogee Foundation's Advisory Council.
Chubachin was born in 1989 and began his studies as a cellist at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory Music School in St. Petersburg in 1996. From 2002, he studied in Moscow with Honored Artist of the Russian Federation and Docent of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory Music College Aleksei Seleznyova. He also has studied with Natalya Shahovskaya and David Geringas. Since 2007, he has studied with Michael Zanderling in Frankfurt, Germany
Arseniy is laureate of the first prize of the "Concertino Prague" International Competition, as well as of the "New Names" All-Russia Competition. In 2006, Arseniy was awarded the first prize of the "Crescendo" festival in St. Petersburg, and 2007 he received the Grand Prize at the Glazunov Competition in Paris. He also is the recipient of a Presidential Grant of the Russian Federation and has performed with the Koblenz - Hofmusic Chamber Orchestra as well as the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra, where he debuted in the Large Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. He also has been engaged for concert tours in Germany, Finland, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Azerbaijan and Japan.
